The GrillGrate Set for Yoder Smokers YS480 offers an anodized aluminum grill grate package specially designed for Yoder Smokers Pellet Grills. When fitted with this package, the grate temperature on the left side surpasses the 650-degree mark, delivering coveted steakhouse-quality grill marks, fast cooking times, and intense caramelization. The result is a depth of color and texture reminiscent of cooking over an open fire or gas-fired grill.

Note: GrillGrates Panels for the Yoder Smokers YS640 and YS480 pellet grills are cut to length so that you can remove the grates below and place the grates directly into the space of the standard grates. This allows the door to close fully and provide maximum contact with the flame for the best sear possible. Placing the Grillgrates panels directly over the standard grates is not recommended.

Proper care and cleaning are essential to maintain the performance and longevity of your GrillGrates. During the initial uses, sparingly apply grill spray or canola oil to the GrillGrates. Always oil your food before placing it on the grill to prevent sticking. Avoid over-cleaning the grates in the beginning to allow them to season and develop a non-stick coating. Over time, the grates will transition from gray to light brown to black. Avoid using harsh cleaners, dishwasher, or prolonged exposure to very high heats (850F +), as this can warp the grates over time. For occasional deep cleaning, the GrillGrates can be cleaned in the sink or washtub. Utilize some panels right side up and others flipped upside down to create a griddle area on your grill. By occasionally rotating grates, they will self-clean.

The YS480 pellet grill now comes standard with 3 chrome cooking grates. A set of direct GrillGrates will replace TWO of these chrome cooking grates, and the 3rd chrome grate will complete the cooking area, maximizing the potential of your grill.
