Light the wood. Wait for 400.
There is a specific thing that happens to pizza at 400C that cannot happen in a home oven. The crust blisters and chars at the edge. The base firms up in seconds. The cheese melts without sweating. It takes less than a minute and it tastes exactly like the version you've been ordering and wishing you could make yourself.
The Grillit Pizza Oven is built to reach that temperature and hold it. The body is carbon steel with a full 304 stainless steel interior. Between the two sits a ceramic fiber insulation layer that keeps the heat inside and the outside cool to touch. The floor is a two-piece firestone 5446 cm total, 3 cm thick which absorbs and radiates heat directly into the base of the pizza the way a stone floor should.
It runs on firewood. The 40 cm mouth opening fits different log sizes; the removable stainless steel chimney and manual airflow control let you manage the burn. Charcoal works too, for a different heat profile.
Stainless steel legs, a 3mm stainless steel door with a wooden handle, a removable chimney. It sits on any flat surface and fits in a car. Designed and built in Egypt.
why you'll love it?
400C the temperature that changes what pizza is
A home oven reaches 250C on a good day. At 400C the crust blisters, the base crisps in seconds, and the cheese melts the way it's supposed to. That temperature gap is the entire difference between pizza that's good and pizza that's right.
A 3cm firestone floor that works like a professional deck oven
The two-piece firestone absorbs heat from the fire, then radiates it directly up into the base. Conductive heat from below not air heat is what creates an evenly cooked, properly crisp base. The same mechanism as a professional pizza oven.
Full 304 stainless steel interior built for serious heat
Every surface inside the oven is 304 stainless steel the grade used in professional kitchens. Ceramic fiber insulation sits between the shell and interior: keeps the heat locked in and the outside safe to approach while cooking.
Manual airflow control you decide how hot it runs
The removable chimney and built-in airflow control let you manage the burn actively. Open it to push toward 400C for pizza. Dial it back to hold a lower, steadier heat for bread, vegetables, or anything else going into the chamber.

FAQs:
Why does temperature matter so much for pizza?
A home oven maxes out at around 250C. At that temperature, pizza takes 1015 minutes, the base softens before the top cooks properly, and you don't get the blistered crust that defines a proper wood-fired result. At 400C+ the entire cook happens in a fraction of the time the base crisps on contact with the firestone, the edge chars, and the cheese melts without sweating. The temperature difference is the product.
What does the firestone actually do?
The firestone floor (5446 cm total, 3 cm thick) absorbs heat from the fire over the preheat period and stores it. When the pizza lands on it, the stone radiates that heat directly up into the base conductive heat, not air heat and it's what creates an evenly cooked, properly crisp base. It works the same way as the stone floor in a professional pizza deck oven.
What type of firewood should I use?
Hardwoods burn hotter and longer oak, beech, or fruit woods are ideal. Avoid softwoods like pine, which burn fast, produce more smoke, and can leave a resinous taste. The 40cm mouth opening accommodates different log sizes. Start with smaller pieces to establish the fire, then add larger logs once it's burning well.
How long does it take to reach 400C?
With hardwood and good airflow, the chamber reaches full temperature in 2030 minutes. The preheat time is when the firestone absorbs its heat don't rush it. Once the stone is up to temperature, it holds well and you can cook multiple pizzas back to back without waiting.
Can I use charcoal instead of firewood?
Yes. Charcoal gives consistent, controllable heat and can reach high temperatures, but produces less smoke a slightly different flavor profile. For the full wood-fired result, firewood is the right fuel. Charcoal works well if firewood isn't available or you want a cleaner cook with less flame management.
What else can I cook in it besides pizza?
The oven chamber handles anything that benefits from high, enclosed heat bread, focaccia, roasted vegetables, whole fish, chicken, and slow-cooked dishes at lower temperatures once the fire dies down. It's a full outdoor oven, not a single-use appliance.
Is the outside of the oven hot while it's running?
The ceramic fiber insulation layer sits between the carbon steel outer shell and the stainless steel interior, and it genuinely keeps the outside manageable. The outer shell will be warm but not dangerously hot under normal operating conditions. The door handle is wooden specifically so it stays cool enough to grip. Exercise normal caution around any oven running at these temperatures.
Does it need a table, or can it sit on the ground?
It needs a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface an outdoor table, a stone ledge, or a metal stand. The stainless steel legs elevate it to a comfortable working height for launching and retrieving pizza. Placing it directly on grass or a wooden surface is not recommended while the fire is running.
How do I clean it after use?
Let everything cool completely. Remove the firestone pieces and brush off any residue don't wash the firestone with water or soap, just dry brush it. Remove the ashtray and empty it. Wipe the stainless steel interior with a dry cloth. Store with the oven cover on.
Is this actually made in Egypt?
Yes designed and built in Egypt by Grillit, a team with a family background in steel production. Not imported, not a rebranded product from elsewhere. The carbon steel body, stainless steel interior, and ceramic fiber insulation are all assembled here.
